Seattle approves bag fee.
According to the Seattle Times,
Beginning in January, shoppers must pay 20 cents for each plastic or paper bag they use at grocery, drug and convenience stores in Seattle.
Outside of Safeway, there was a man trying to get people to sign a petition to oppose the upcoming plastic bag fee. I refused of course. I have to say, this fee is one that I approve of. I agree with it because we as a nation are producing just way too much waste and not recycling enough to justify production of more environmentally harmful products. I figure, this fee will force me, and everyone else, to buckle down and reduce and reuse. Go Earth! Go Green!

Why olympic divers shower after every swim....
Have you ever wondered why divers jump in the shower after every dive in the olympics? I have! That always bugged me when ever I watched the games, I mean, they had just got out the water and were soon to get back in - why waste the water? Well, after those years of wondering, here is the answer :D
According to Fourth Place Medal, the temperature of the pool water (usually around 80 degrees) and the air (between 68 and 72 degrees) are different. This difference can cause muscle tightness. So, to keep muscles nice and relaxed, divers warm up by taking showers or sitting in a hot tub.

Somewhere over the rainbow.....
Yesterday was a pretty gray day. The clouds swamped the sky spreading a dark and damp overcast. I look out the window and I knew my day was not going to be happy. I was sick with a cold and a bit of a bad cough. With the forecast saying it was going to rain, there was no way I could make big brother's softball game :( That made the day even more grim, I missed his game. After sleeping in and giving my weary body the much needed rest, I dragged myself out of bed to work on my writing project. As the sun bore its way through the stubborn clouds, a glimpse of a better ending to my day was on the horizon. Sure enough, my brother and sisters come home from the games, telling how they lost the game in pompous and glory! We don't really play to win, but we play in the spirit of having fun and feeling like a community, a team. And that they did. The Sharks, my brother's team, played against a much better team, but they still managed to play a good game and have lots of fun. Though I would have loved to have been there, I was feeling better already. As rain pitter-pattered on the window sill, all was still except for my tapping on the keyboards. Suddenly, I don't really know why Iooked out the window, but in the sky was a pretty rainbow. It was the wonderful finale of what started out as a gray, unhappy day. Masha Allah!
I Am Not Afraid to Stand Alone - Native Deen
Another top-notch song by Native Deen. I think this is by far my fave.
Small Deeds - Native Deen
One of my favorite songs by Native Deen, not just because of the beat, but because the message it gives.

Happy Sisters' Day :D
Okay, so my brother wakes up this morning and says "Today is August 3rd 2008, Happy Sisters' Day, yes insha Allah!" did you ever know that theer was an actual holiday for sisters!!!! So, I went online to see what this was all about and guess what? it really is a holiday. Holey Doley, I thought he was trying to get an extra treat at our expense LOL. Well this is what I found:
When : First Sunday in August
Sister's Day celebrates being or having a sister. That means a lot of us will celebrate this special day.
Sisters are truly special and unique. Sure, we may argue and fight. But, when it comes right down to it, sisters are the best, the very best.
Celebrate Sister's Day by spending time with your sister. Make it a special day in some way for you, and for her.
So Happy Sisters Day!!!! :D
